Michael Sellick, Creative Director and Video Host for The Crochet Crowd

The Crochet Crowd is launching a brand new global challenge. I’m just finalizing the details and getting all of our challenge guidelines written up.

Our new challenge not part of our regular monthly challenges. This one is extra special and the prizes have been seriously upgraded to being ultra fabulous.

Five Challengers will be awarded a $500 gift package compliments of Red Heart Yarns, Creativ Festival and The Crochet Crowd. It’s the biggest giveaway we have ever done for a challenge.

I want to spill the beans early but I want to ensure our guidelines make sense are easy to follow.

Stay tuned…

From a simple idea and being at the right place and time in my life back in 2008, the concept of The Crochet Crowd was developed. I'm here to hook and share. 1. I would love to enter into the contest. I have never entered into anything like this. I started crochet a year ago in Dec. I taught myself how to crochet by books and The Crochet Crowd on YouTube. If someone would explain to me how you enter and what all you have to do. I would appreciate so much. Thank you (:

Go ahead…challenge me!! I spent 2013 recovering from a really bad car accident (EMS was sure there was not going to be anyone alive in my car). With four breaks in my left wrist, all my vertebrae broken, all my ribs on the right side broken and half of the ribs on my left side broken, a broken sternum, a collapsed lung, severe concussion (which, I am told, I will never fully recover from), all my internal organs bruised and bleeding, crushed hips, and referred nerve damage down both arms and legs…I used crocheting to help me disengage myself from pain. When I could not find relief from the Dilaudid, Demerol, Morphine, Tylenol 3, and everything else that was prescribed, crocheting was there for me. I consider crocheting to be like meditation now. It was there to comfort me through months and months of overwhelming pain and allowed me to put a smile on hundreds of faces. I made hats!! I made hats for friends, family, friends of friends, for the cancer ward at the local childrens’ hospital as well as the regular hospital. It was a great feeling to know that something good was coming from my suffering. Sorry…that was a long rant, lol.

I am back to my job at the hospital (with restricted duties) and am still crocheting in my free time. Challenge me!! I am ready to move on to something different than hats now.
