Patriotic Granny Square Bag with The Tennessee Stitch

Patriotic Granny Square Bag

Patriotic Granny Square Bag

I finished this project in a single day and I enjoyed making the pattern as I crocheted.  This project started as a granny square blanket.  I started and finished this project on Memorial Day 2013.  I was feeling very patriotic with the recent events and dear friends deployed.  I had a get together a few days before and listened intently to my close friends war stories about Afghanistan and Iraq.  Even now as I think about all the lives that have been paid for my freedom it brings a tear to my eye.  While this is NOTHING compared to what they have put on the line for me, I just wanted to create something that spoke to MY heart!  Below you will find my pattern.  If you use or share this pattern, Please be courteous and LINK BACK HERE.

Finishing:
Make sure all ends are weaved in to their corresponding colors.  Place the granny squares with WRONG SIDES facing each other.  With NAVY, sew the bottoms of the granny squares together.  Only sewing the bottom!  Place the strap on one side of the granny squares (to be the side panel of the handbag), make sure the strap is not twisted, and place the other end of the strap on the other side of the granny square (to be the other side panel of the bag).  With NAVY, sew the strap to the sides of the granny squares.

So after I finished this handbag, my niece commandeered it LOL!  She is 2 years old and loved her new purse.  I did not even get a chance to use it.  Here is my little niece with her new purse that she stores some of her favorite little toys in.
If you would like to connect with Danielle further, join her on her blog Crochetto or on Facebook at Crochetto
So my questions to you are:
  • Have you crocheted a handbag before?
  • What is your favorite granny square project?
