Changes with Free Patterns on our Website

Inspiring Crochet Afghans

Changes to continue to still give free patterns but speed up your internet experience.

Yesterday, I sat down and really examined what people need from me. How can I make The Crochet Crowd experience more seamless and easier to use.

With the transition of my website in April, hundreds of hours were spent on cleaning things up and trying to make The Crochet Crowd really give people what they want. Make it pretty and easy. Hindsight is always 20-20. Some of the features I created have been a detriment to our internet speed and bandwidth. So yes it looks pretty but pages take too long to load. I’m an internet junky and I hate slow websites myself.

I refuse to go backward in making things the way they were but I have cut out some of the icing on the cake to not sacrifice our speed. In just 10 days, we have gathered 1.7 million hits. That’s a lot of data and traffic.

Effective last night, most of the categories were reverted back to a blog listing like it used to be. You can see an example of this Afghan Patterns – Assorted Designs – The Crochet Crowd.

The blog listing shows you the latest content per category. Essentially, when I add something new, it will be at the top of each category.

On the main home page you still select the category you want to get patterns and inspiration for. When you click it goes to this new format for MOST of the categories. Some less popular categories I have decided not to touch as they are not accessed that often.

This revision to go back to this format reduces an enormous about of upkeep and organization behind the scenes to maintain.

To get the pattern and/or see the videos associated to the project, you need to click the “Read more button under each article”. This way, you don’t need to wait for all of the patterns to load when you are just looking for something specific.

All patterns are still free. There are no changes to that. My mission is to make our website fast and help you.

You will also notice a brand new Search Button on the top right rail of our website. When you search something, it is looking at my website, blog and posts within our forum. This essentially gives you a great cross section of data. Our ETSY and RAVELRY People are going to love this if they have listed themselves in our forum. It increases awareness and opportunities to showcase your items for sale.

If you have a Facebook Pages or online store you wish to share, ensure you get it listed on our Forum. We have empowered a high ranking search engine to pick up on all content that is listed on the internet within hours. Visit our forum at http://forum.thecrochetcrowd.com.

Wishing you a fabulous day.
