New Opportunity for Ravelry, ETSY + Online Store Users

Mikey, The Crochet Crowd

The Crochet Crowd Forum

In our community guidelines on Facebook, I made a promise to research a new way for our fans with Ravelry, ETSY and other online stores to reach our audience. I am constantly asked to promote and endorse other Facebook Fan Pages and post a link from my voice so that other pages can receive an influx of new members. In an isolated incident, I did this a couple years ago and it would turn out that my endorsement caused nearly 100 people to lose their money. Since then, I don’t do that any more, unless they are a trusted sponsor of The Crochet Crowd. Remember, in any online financial transaction there is always a risk.

In our Brand New Forum, we have set aside Links, Share + Buy & Sell as an opportunity for those who wish to broadcast their information. This means you can share your online stores and promote your items for sale. If you have a Facebook Fan Page and are looking for more fans, there’s a board to promote your own page. Be sure to tell us more about your page, other than just post a blind link.

With these types of posts, please be respectful and post them in the appropriate boards. Example, don’t post your store link in a board that isn’t related to the topic. We need to trust in people and people need to trust in the boards to be accurate in the topics. It will be considered spamming if this is not followed properly. We need to get our forum off to the right start.

If you see any boards or topics that you think we could use, let me know. There is a suggestion board to leave us more details.

What do you think of the Forum? Is it useful to you? How do you plan on using it? Please leave me your thought in a reply below.

About Mikey, The Crochet Crowd

I am Mikey, owner of The Crochet Crowd Blog. I'm a 'hooker' at heart with the passion to crochet. I am from Ontario Canada and teach how to crochet online through YouTube Video Tutorials. From a simple idea and being at the right place and time in my life back in 2008, the concept of The Crochet Crowd was developed. I'm here to hook and share. Come follow my crochet journey and share yours with comments here and you are most welcome to share your creativity within our Facebook page.

I absolutely love the new forum. I feel it’s a win/win situation. I am learning and can also help others learn more about our craft. Plus we can show our accomplishments. Not that we are searching for recognition, praise or anything like that. But by posting our accomplished projects others can see, learn and discuss those projects.

I guess what I’m trying to say is this form is an example of you Micky. You are so giving in this online community with your teaching, discussions, video tutorials, free patterns, I could go on and on, but now with the forum we can do that with each other. Not that we need to replace you or anything like that, but you are only 1 person with a huge following and many of us have questions. So I think this forum will be wonderful in all of helping each other and in the long run it will help you. More time for yarn bombing!!!

Mickey I know many have expressed their thanks for all you do. Add me to that list. You have transformed my knowledge of crocheting to a new level. I always loved crocheting and making things for people, but you have added flare, panache and helped me find more creativity within myself then I realized I had. Thanks so much for all you do.

Thank you for being so clear about the proper etiquette for utilizing your (our) forum! It is so annoying to see “spamming” take place where it is not welcome and it is difficult to control when there are so many members (YOUR followers, Mikey!)
Thank you for providing this common meeting place for so many of us who have a mutual love for crochet and giving us the opportunity to “meet” one another!
And… thank you to Ian for the fantastic talent you have in helping Mikey bring his ideas to life to share with us.
And… I can’t forget to thank Diva Dan – for keeping Mikey HAPPY!

  3. This is a great idea. I love checking out peoples shops for patterns and items they make. my finances might not like it as much though…..LOL

Sounds like a fine idea! Thank you! (You may want to fix your tag and the word in the article to say “ETSY” instead of “ESTY”. Sorry my copy editing rears its ugly head.)

What do you think? Is Mikey bang on or out to lunch? Leave your thoughts here.
