Tammy Cologie: The Frog’s Point of View

Please help me welcome a brand new guest blogger of The Crochet Crowd. Meet Tammy Cologie.

Tammy has a nickname stemming from childhood as ‘Frog’. We felt her new weekly column would be fun to use “The Frog’s Point of View” for her weekly tips and ideas she is sharing with our audience.

Tammy is originally from Southern California but now resides in Pennsylvania. Her husband was a truck driver and she went along for the ride with him. She immediately fell in love with a gorgeous fall day in Pennsylvania. She packed up and moved across the country. Talk about follow your heart.

Tammy’s favourite aspect of crochet is using threads. She says she uses 90% of Red Heart products but is like most of us, she isn’t loyal to one brand or another. She uses what is cheapest on the store shelves. She loves to create doilies, angels and fine details.

In reflecting with Tammy, she has a slight tremor in her hands. I asked her, “How can you crochet the fine yarn thread projects?”

“Fine needle thread projects make my brain concentrate, the movement and the sense of calming settles down my tremors to be non-existent during crochet.” proudly she shared with me.

Tammy is a former Craft and Hobby’s Manager for a Walmart store. She said of all the jobs she has ever had, working at Walmart and, especially the craft area, was the dream job. She inspired 1000’s of crafters and could reflect her experience to customers. Being she is the one to change pricing to mark down the clearance items, she says it was great as essentially she is first to know and can make a decision whether her craft stash at home needs to have more yarns added.

Tammy’s new Guest Blogger role with us is to watch over our Facebook Fan Page site to see if there are questions or situations where more details answers would be helpful. Though Cathy and I see 100’s of questions each week through all of our social media platforms, Tammy is going to be looking for something specific where maybe some extra advice or ideas would be helpful.

Tammy will relate the question here on our blog and then do her essential research to find great answers. You will see Tammy making comments and thoughts on our Facebook as well. She’s really great for being helpful and being a guest blogger is a perfect fit for her.

Welcome to The Crochet Crowd Tammy. We are excited to have you as a guest blogger.

Will the new blogger, Tammy the Frog, be sharing patterns for doilies? I like to do doilies too, but have not been very successful in finding patterns (preferably free ones) on line. I also have a tremor in my right hand due to a brain tumor, but I have not noticed it when I crochet.

I had not crocheted in years but took it up again after my son was killed Thanksgiving of 2012. It calms my mind. I have something to concentrate on, other than my pain. Finding the Crochet Crowd has been a lifesaver. Thank you
